    Det har AAU’s direktion. Alle direktionsmedlemmer bakker op om beslutningen, ligesom AAU’s bestyrelse bifalder konstruktionen

    02. Hvor skal pengene til Institute of Advanced Studies in PBL komme fra?

    Midler til de grupper og medarbejdere, som skal indgå i den kommende enhed, flyttes med fra deres nuværende arbejdssted. Forårets arbejdet med at definere indhold og organisering af enheden vil også omfatte en afklaring af, om der er behov for at søge yderligere finansiering.

    Enheden hører direkte under prorektor for uddannelse og bliver ikke tilknyttet et bestemt fakultet.

    Nej, det er ikke forventningen.

    07. Hvorfor kan medarbejdere, der forsker i eller beskæftiger sig med videreudvikling af PBL, ikke blive siddende på deres respektive institutter?

    Ideen med at etablere en samlet tværgående forsknings- og undervisningsenhed for PBL er at samle kræfterne, således at forskere og administrativt personale får bedre muligheder for at udveksle viden og erfaringer. På den måde kan enheden udnytte synergier på tværs af det universitetspædagogiske landskab på AAU og sikre bedre understøttelse af nybrud inden for PBL, f.eks. i form af megaprojekter eller digitalisering.

    Målet er i sidste ende at opretholde og videreudvikle AAU’s førerposition inden for PBL-forskning og PBL-praksis samt i højere grad at tilpasse læringsmodellen til fremtidens digitalisering og komplekse problemstillinger.

    08. Hvornår får de berørte medarbejdere besked om, at de skal flyttes?

    Vi forventer, at medarbejdernes fremtidige placering og tilknytningsgrad er afklaret i efteråret 2021.

    09. Hvem står for etableringen af Institute of Advanced Studies in PBL?

    Der er nedsat en styregruppe, som har ansvaret for at etablere den kommende enhed. Gruppen består af:

    • Dekan Henrik Halkier, HUM (formand)
    • Dekan Rasmus Antoft (SAMF)
    • Dekan Henrik Pedersen (TECH)

    Styregruppen vil inddrage relevante bidragsydere for at få identificeret hvilke funktioner og kompetencer, enheden skal have. Dette omfatter bl.a. etablering af en række arbejdsgrupper med deltagelse af både ledere og medarbejdere samt stormøder, cafemøder og ad hoc-enheder, der skal arbejde med konkrete perspektiver eller problemstillinger.

    10. Hvordan kan medarbejderne få indflydelse på etableringen af Institute of Advanced Studies in PBL?

    Medarbejdere får mulighed for at bidrage til processen med at etablere den kommende PBL-enhed gennem ovennævnte arbejdsgrupper, stormøder, cafemøder m.v.  De kan også kontakte deres institut- eller afdelingsleder eller sende ideer og betragtninger direkte til styregruppen.

FAQ about the establishment of the Institue of Advanced PBL

    01. Who decided to establish the Institute of Advanced Studies in PBL?

    The AAU Executive Management decided this. All members of the Executive Management support the decision, and the AAU University Board approves of the new institute.

    02. Where will the money for the Institute of Advanced Studies in PBL come from?

    Funds for the groups and staff members included in the new unit will move with them from their current place of work. The work this spring on defining the content and organisation of the unit will also include clarification on whether additional funding is needed.

    03. Where will the new PBL unit be organisationally placed?

    Organisationally, the Institute of Advanced Studies in PBL is directly under the responsibility of the pro-rector for education and is not assigned to a particular faculty.

    It is not yet clear where Institute of Advanced Studies in PBL will be physically placed at the university.

    04. Who will head the Institute of Advanced Studies in PBL?

    A manager position will be advertised that anyone with relevant qualifications may apply for. The manager reports to the pro-rector for education who has the overall responsibility for the Institute of Advanced Studies in PBL.

    05. Does the establishment of the new PBL unit mean that staff will be transferred from departments and units?

    Yes, management expects a number of researchers and administrative staff to transfer to the new cross-cutting research and teaching unit for PBL. The number of people involved is not yet known, and the degree of affiliation with Institute of Advanced Studies in PBL will be clarified in the establishment phase. However, it is expected that researchers associated with IAS will still have teaching and supervision obligations at the departments.

    06. Does the establishment of the future PBL unit mean that there will be dismissals?

    No, that is not the expectation.

    07. Why can’t staff members who are researching or otherwise engaged in the further development of PBL remain at their respective departments?

    The idea of establishing a unified cross-cutting research and teaching unit for PBL is to pool strengths so that researchers and administrative staff have better opportunities to exchange knowledge and experience. In this way, the unit can exploit synergies across the university-pedagogy landscape at AAU and ensure better support for new breakthroughs in PBL, such as megaprojects or digitalisation.

    Ultimately, the aim is to maintain AAU's leading position in PBL research and PBL practice, as well as to better adapt the learning model to the digitalisation and complex issues of the future.

    08. When will the staff members affected be notified that they will be moved?

    We expect that staff members’ future location and level of affiliation will be clarified in autumn 2021.

    09. Who is in charge of establishing the Institute of Advanced Studies in PBL?

    A steering committee has been set up to establish the new unit. The group consists of:

    • Henrik Halkier, Dean, HUM (Chair)
    • Rasmus Antoft, Dean, SAMF
    • Henrik Pedersen, Dean, TECH

    The steering committee will involve relevant contributors to identify the functions and competences of the unit. This entails activities such as the establishment of a number of working groups involving both managers and employees, as well as large meetings, café meetings and ad hoc units to work on specific perspectives or issues.

    Staff members will have the opportunity to contribute to the process of establishing the new PBL unit through the aforementioned working groups, large meetings, café meetings, etc. They can also contact their department head or unit head or send ideas and considerations directly to the steering committee.
